Program Contents
"The Essentials of Golf," developed by Medallion Golf Productions, explains and discusses etiquette and codes of behavior for the game of golf. This unique tool universally informs all levels of players and staff of what the minimum expectations are when playing a round of golf. The program covers all aspects of golf etiquette,ready golf, pace of play, care of the course and many more essentials so all may enjoy the game of golf at their facility.
"The Essentials of Golf" also boasts a seal of approval from some of the leading professional organizations, including National Golf Foundation, Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, and National Golf Course Owners Association.
Highlights of "The Essentials of Golf"
The program takes the viewer through the proper procedures on the golf course from their arrival at the club through the "19th" hole and departure for the day.
- Arrival -- bag drop, locker room, golf shop, proper attire
- Preparing for a round of golf -- tees, golf balls, ball mark repair tool, sand bottles, and more
- Warm Up-- Demonstration of an ideal warm up (if time allows) and a minimum warm up
- Prior to arrival at the first tee -- the 15 minute call, being ready, preparing your score card, determining the game and getting your group together.
- The First Tee -- being on time, the starter, parking the golf car, approaching the tee, damage repair and more
- Landing Area -- Ready Golf rules, etiquette, pace of play, provisional ball and other important facts to enhance the day on the course.
- Fairway Play -- bunker shots, proper raking procedure, repair divots, hazards
- Cart Path Only -- keeping pace of play when the fairway is not available to drive on. Helping your playing partners keep pace of play
- Pace of Play -- Letting others play through without endangering each other or slowing down the round of golf.
- The Putting Green -- How to save time and strokes with proper procedures. Segments on care of the green, from care of the bunkers, to proper ball mark repair, where to park the golf car, and many more tips.
- Completion of Round -- tally scores, count clubs, return golf cart, post scores

Tom Addis III served as President of the PGA of America in 1995 and 1996 and is the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Southern California Section of the PGA of America. The PGA of America is the world's largest working sports organization with more than 28,000 golf professionals.
Considered one of the PGA's most dedicated and active members, tom has devoted his entire career to the game and business of golf and making the game better for everyone. Prior to serving as the Executive Director/CEO of the SCPGA, Tom served as the owner and President Of Medallion Golf Inc. in Beaumont, California. Medallion Golf is a golf facility design, construction, operations and management services company. Prior to establishing Medallion Golf, Tom was Vice President of Golf Development for Full Swing Golf and Director of Golf at Singing Hills Golf resort in San Diego.
In 1972 Tom was elected to PGA membership. In two short years, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Southern California PGA Section, one of 41 PGA sections throughout the United
States. Tom was also a member of the San Diego PGA Chapter Board of Directors through the same period. He is one of the very few PGA members who has served as president of each branch of PGA governance- chapter, section and national.
Tom is the recipient of some of golf's most prestigious national awards. In 1981 Tom received the PGA's Horton Smith Award for his contributions to improving educational opportunities for PGA professionals. In 1988 he was awarded the National Golf Foundation (NGF) Joe Graffis award that can be bestowed on a PGA Professional, the PGA Golf Professional of the Year. He is also a member of the PGA Golf Professional Hall of Fame and the
Southern California PGA Hall of Fame.
Tom devotes considerable time working in the community and with the physically and mentally challenged person as evidenced by his leadership in establishing golf as a recognized sport in the
Special Olympic Games. He is a crusader for children and adults with special needs, community outreach programs, school programs, and works to ensure that everyone has access to golf facilities and the game of golf everywhere. Tom is a past president of the San Diego Junior Golf Association.
Tom and his wife Susan own two successful Rocky Mountain Chocolate retail stores in California. Tom is also a partner in The Hodges Golf Improvement Center and Cottonwood Golf Club in San Diego. Tom's two son's are both involved in the golf business. Tom IV is involved in golf course design and construction in Asia. and Bryan is the PGA general manger at The Country Club of Sodoba in San Jancinto, California.
Jerry Lanston ("Lanny") Wadkins, Jr. (born December 5, 1949 in Richmond, Virginia) attended Wake Forest University. He won the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1970 and turned professional in 1971. Wins soon followed, with one PGA Tour win in 1972 and two in 1973. In one major championship victory, a PGA Championship followed in 1977, and he continued to pick up a win more seasons than not until 1992, when he achieved his twenty-first and final PGA Tour victory at the Canon Greater Hartford Open. He played for the United States in the Ryder Cup eight times (1977, 1979, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 1991 and 1993), which as of 2004 was the tied highest number of appearances in the competition by an American, alongside Raymond Floyd.
From 2000 Wadkins played on the Champions Tour, picking up a win at the ACE Group Classic that year.
