GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENTS ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA
While the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
(GCSAA) bears little semblance to its formative years, the basic
tenets that provided the impetus for organizing in 1926 are still
alive today. GCSAA is the professional association for the men and
women who manage and maintain the game's most valuable resource -
the golf course.
Letter from BRUCE WILLIAMS
Superintendent at the Los Angeles Country Club and former
President of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
Tom,
Many consider me to be a good critic of items like this so don't
think I am going easy on you. Simply put, I think the piece is well
written and give you credit for a great plan. Nice of you to include
the superintendent side of things.
I would not change anything...it is a well thought out concept.
As far as costs are concerned...I am not sure that golf courses will realize a reduction in maintenance expenses but it would enable staff to detail other things that are not currently being done. Raked bunkers, replaced divots, and few or no ball marks will mean a lot to the golfers and place more value on their round.
You have a winner here!!! Bruce

golf business. Their success ensures that the playing fields continue

Letter from MIKE HUGHES
Chief Executive Officer for the National Golf Course Owners Association
Dear Tom,
On behalf of NGCOA, we are please to offer our support and congratulations
on the production of your video, The Essentials of Golf. One of the NGCOA's
top strategic initiatives is to increase demand for the game of golf,
and we know that demand for the game is closely related to enjoyment of
the game. Your video not only gives basic instruction about how to proceed
from bag drop to the 19the hole, but it also shows how players can get
more enjoyment out of the golfing experience.
We commend you and your team on offering a great primer that any golfer - new or experienced - should take some time and review. This is another example of your personal support and leadership within our own industry.
Kindest regards,
Mike Hughes

Letter from JOSEPH F. BEDITZ, PH.D. resident & Chief Executive Officer for the National Golf Foundation
Dear Tom,
I've reviewed your "Essentials of Golf" video, and I find it to be a well-thought
out,high-quality production. And, I believe that it fills a void in the marketplace
for an educational video that highlights all the important aspects of golf etiquette
and "do's and don't's" for those new to the game. I particularly applaud the appropriate
use of female actors in the production - an element that is often missing from
past videos of this kind.
I wish you the best of luck in your promotion of the "Essentials of Golf" - which
I'm sure many clubs and golfers will find - essential.
Sincerely,
Joe
